Deep Spirit: Degrees of Consciousness
|

Degrees of Consciousness Q: I embody both philosophical and psychological (psycho-spiritual) consciousness. Why is your distinction useful to someone like me?
Well, yes, of course. You have different types or varying degrees of consciousness (such as joy, fear, beliefs, feelings, etc.), which means you recognize that you have consciousness in the psychological (or psychospiritual) sense. But to have consciousness in this sense (contrasted with being “unconscious”) means you have to have consciousness in the philosophical sense (contrasted with non-consciousness). The issue is not that you “embody” these different meanings, but whether you recognize which meaning of consciousness you are using in any particular dialogue.
